Eric Almond
Eric Almond, LMSW
Staff therapist
If you’re looking for a deeply caring, welcoming, and non-judgmental therapist who…
Understands what it’s like to feel all the things all at once—grief, anger, longing, shame—and has made space for it
Knows the ache of being between identities, between homes, between who you are and who you were told to be—and won’t ask you to choose
Brings a trauma-informed, culturally humble and deeply human approach to healing that honors every scar, every strength, and every fear
…you might be in the right place.
About Eric
Eric Almond, LMSW (he/him), offers therapy rooted in presence, care, and the belief that healing happens when we are fully seen—especially in the places we’ve had to hide to survive. A Black queer therapist with lived experience navigating religious abuse, racial violence, trauma, addiction, self-harm, and grief, Eric brings a rare depth of compassion to his work.
Eric holds a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens shaped by his personal and professional experience with complex PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and early childhood abuse. He works relationally, with attention to attachment, emotional regulation, strengths, and perseverance. With a background in mental health outreach, substance use counseling, and community-based work, Eric understands the exhaustion that comes from trying to stay strong—and the strength that comes from finally being allowed to rest.
Many of Eric’s clients are people who may be struggling with emotional intensity, trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, neurodivergence or grief. His therapeutic approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic mindfulness, psychodynamic insight and strengths based.
Through unlearning religious indoctrination, Eric also brings a spiritual lens to therapy for those who desire it —drawing from meditation and tarot to help clients access intuition, find deeper meaning, and reconnect with their own inner guidance. He believes in honoring each client’s spiritual experience, and welcomes conversations about identity, belief, purpose, and the parts of us that want something more than survival.
Eric believes that healing doesn't always need to be heavy. He brings humor into the room—not as a distraction, but as a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can still find light. Laughter can be sacred, too.
Eric might be the right therapist for you if…
…you’ve spent years trying to be “good” or “strong” and are just now learning that strength can look like softness, stillness, or saying no.
…you’re a queer, BIPOC person tired of shrinking, code-switching, or translating your pain
…you’re healing from family trauma, religious shame, or emotional neglect—and want a therapist who won’t flinch at the truth.
…you feel haunted by a relationship—romantic, familial, or otherwise—and reliving it in your mind, hoping for a different ending.
…you’re a survivor of abuse trying to piece together who you are outside of survival.
…you’ve been sober for a while—or are trying to get there—and want support that honors your story without judgment or perfectionism.
…you’re spiritual, skeptical, or somewhere in between—and want a therapist who welcomes all of it
…you want a therapist who’s real, emotionally intuitive, and can be direct and challenging
…you’re scared that healing might mean letting go of people, patterns, or stories that once saved you—but don’t serve you anymore.
…you believe that healing can be sacred, strange, and occasionally hilarious—and want someone who won’t blink at any of that.
