Eric Almond

Eric Almond, LMSW
Staff therapist

If you’re looking for a deeply caring, welcoming, non-judgmental therapist who…

  • Knows the ache of being between identities, between homes, between who you are and who you were told to be—and won’t ask you to choose

  • Can help you get unstuck, work through your trauma, and move toward a life you enjoy

  • Brings a trauma-informed, culturally humble, deeply human approach to healing that honors every scar, every strength, and every fear

  • Believes that all types of spirituality can have a place in therapy

…you might be in the right place.

About Eric

Trauma can affect every aspect of your life, sometimes in ways you can’t even see. Eric Almond (he/him) helps clients struggling with trauma understand how they’ve been impacted, get in touch with themselves, and move forward so they can do more than just survive. He offers therapy rooted in presence, care, and the belief that healing happens when we are fully seen.

Maybe you’ve been going at 110% for years, or are constantly trying to be strong (for yourself or everyone else) and feel burnt out. Eric understands the exhaustion that comes from trying to stay strong—and the strength that comes from finally being allowed to rest.

Along with trauma, Eric works with clients to get to the root of and manage their big feelings. He helps them navigate anxiety, depression, and grief (sometimes all three). He also works with neuro neurodivergent people to develop executive functioning skills and navigate a world that wasn’t built for them. An experienced addiction counselor, Eric provides people trying to get or stay sober with the support they need.

A Black queer therapist with lived experience navigating religious abuse, racial violence, trauma, addiction, self-harm, and grief, Eric brings a depth of compassion to his work. Eric holds a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens shaped by his personal and professional experience with complex PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and early childhood abuse. He focuses on attachment, emotional regulation, strengths, and perseverance. Eric’s therapeutic approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic mindfulness, and psychodynamic insight.

Eric also brings a spiritual lens to therapy that draws from meditation and tarot to help clients access intuition, find deeper meaning, and reconnect with their own inner guidance. He believes in honoring each client’s spiritual experience, and welcomes conversations about identity, belief, and purpose.

Eric believes that healing doesn't always need to be heavy. He brings humor to therapy as a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can still find light. Laughter can be sacred, too.

Eric might be the right therapist for you if…

…you’ve spent years trying to be “good” or “strong” and are just now learning that strength can look like softness, stillness, or saying no.

…you’re a queer, BIPOC person tired of shrinking, code-switching, or translating your pain

…you’re healing from family trauma, religious shame, or emotional neglect and want a therapist who won’t flinch at the truth.

…you feel haunted by a relationship—romantic, familial, or otherwise—and keep reliving it in your mind, hoping for a different ending.

…you’re a survivor of abuse trying to piece together who you are outside of survival.

…you’ve  been sober for a while—or are trying to get there—and want support that honors your story without judgment or perfectionism.

…you’re spiritual, skeptical, or somewhere in between, and want a therapist who welcomes all of it

…you want a therapist who’s real, emotionally intuitive, and can be direct and challenging
…you’re scared that healing might mean letting go of people, patterns, or stories that once saved you but no longer serve you.
