About Emily

Emily (she/her) is passionate about helping people build skills to navigate anxiety disorders and OCD, and recover from trauma. She helps people with OCD understand their compulsions and develop effective tools to stop engaging with them.

Emily frequently works with people in their 20s and 30s, often high achievers who find themselves realizing that their anxiety or OCD is deeply impacting their lives — from work to relationships to identity and sense of self. She helps clients navigate the challenges of adulthood and their ongoing relationships with themselves as they grow and change.

As a proud member of the queer community, Emily understands the importance of queer visibility in the therapeutic space. Emily’s number one priority is creating a comfortable, person-centered, safely challenging environment where clients can move at their own pace and trust that they will be met with understanding, support, and respect.

While she is formally trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and LGBTQ+ centered CBT, Emily is adaptable in her treatment style. She believes that supporting client needs is central to creating a trusting, productive therapeutic relationship. Emily also believes that anxiety about the state of the world can often be channeled positively into smaller challenges, like maintaining healthy relationships and avoiding burnout. She recognizes the importance of acknowledging how difficult and unfriendly the world is to most people while helping them adapt to it as best they can.

Emily might be the right therapist for you if…

…you’re looking for a trauma-informed, empathetic space to explore difficult experiences at your own pace and without judgment

…you’re looking for a therapist who understands how unfair the world is while helping you adapt as well as possible

…you’ve realized that your anxiety or OCD is deeply affecting your day-to-day life, and want tools to break free from it

…you want to work with someone who will (appropriately) break the fourth wall and bring the humanity back into therapy

…you’re at any stage of learning about your queer or trans identity, at any age

…you’re the caregiver or loved one of a queer person and want to provide support but don’t quite know how

…you’re new to therapy and want to work with someone who recognizes how scary and vulnerable this step can be — and supports you as you take it

…you’re learning how to rebuild trustworthy relationships (of all kinds) following trauma
